Moving forward

Fuel cell technology is an essential tool for reaching climate goals, energy supply security as well as increased employment.

As mastering of SOFC technology requires multi-disciplinary competences, the critical size of a development team to achieve real progress is large.

It is costly to bring the fuel cell potential to fruition, and both national governments and EU have realized that strategic commitment and funding are required.

Contributions and sponsorships

At Topsoe Fuel Cell, core funding has historically come from the parent company Haldor Topsoe. Very important contributions have also been received from public sponsors both in Denmark and abroad. Without these contributions, the Topsoe Fuel Cell development would have been too slow to reach the market in time to make a difference.

All of the sponsorships for the Topsoe Fuel Cell development have contributed to important developments, big or small. The main sponsors with sponsorships exceeding 1 mill EUR include:

  • the Energy technology Development and Demonstration Program (EUDP)
  • Energinet.dk
  • Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation (Hoejteknologifonden)
  • the EU Life Environment program
  • the EU Sixth Framework program
  • the EU Seventh Framework program
