Marine demonstration

Topsoe Fuel Cell's SOFC technology is being demonstrated in a marine APU application in the EU Methapu project, where Topsoe Fuel Cell has supplied stacks for a 20 kW system to the integrator partner Wärtsilä.

Objective

The Methapu project will demonstrate the SOFC technology in a maritime environment. Some of the specific challenges in this project are:

• air with high humidity and salt content
• vibrations and rough operating conditions
• liquid fuel (methanol)

The demonstration starts during the first half of 2010.
