SYSTEM INTEGRATION

Based on the process design licensed by the mother company Haldor Topsøe A/S, Topsoe Fuel Cell has access to the basic tools required for system integration, at least for large scale facilities. During the development phase, Topsoe Fuel Cell utilizes this know-how in preparation of test facilities and demonstration units, internally and in collaboration with partners.

The long-term intention with respect to system integration is to leverage the fuel processing, catalyst and system integration know-how and offer it under license to our strategic integrator partners. This way, we offer a single point source for SOFC cells, stacks, catalysts and process design for new SOFC fuel cell systems as well as for stack and catalyst replacements.

An example of where Topsoe Fuel Cell catalysts, fuel processing and process know-how have been applied, is our strategic partnership with Wärtsilä. With the objective to supply fuel cell systems for distributed generation and marine APU applications, Wärtsilä is developing highly efficient SOFC power units for these markets. Topsoe Fuel Cell catalysts and stack technology are utilized in the development of these units. One of the fuel cell systems under development is the WFC 20, a 20 kWe SOFC power unit shown at the top right of this page.
