Kresten Juel Jensen is a research engineer in Topsoe Fuel Cell.
Making a differenceAt Topsoe Fuel Cell, I am working with a product that makes a difference. One day in the not too distant future, our PowerCore may be installed in my mother’s house!
Close to the development processIn my job I am very close to the development process. I like the idea of doing something that has not been done before - I like the challenge. We can’t just see how things are done in a book. We have to get our own ideas, think for ourselves.
I use many different engineering skills in my work - my work branches out from chemical engineering, which is my field, into mechanical, electric and process engineering. It is necessary to use all fields in the development process.
Modeling and improvementMy work is often based on modeling. We make theoretical calculations on the components of the fuel cell appliance and compare them with tests. So there is both a theoretical and a practical dimension in my work.
And I have a high degree of freedom to test any ideas or possibilities for improvement. I am very close to the actual development of our products, and that is very satisfying – taking into account any possible obstacles, possibilities for improvement or designing components and processes.
Working as a teamThere are a lot of young people in Topsoe Fuel Cell with many different backgrounds. The more experienced engineers make sure that all these wild ideas do not stray out of bounds. It’s great to be able to draw on their experience!
At Topsoe Fuel Cell there is strong feeling that we are working together to achieve a common goal. Everbody wants to contribute – and everybody has something to offer. |
