TOPSOE FUEL CELL RECEIVES SUPPORT FROM THE DANISH NATIONAL ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY FOUNDATION

Lyngby, 16 January 2006

Topsoe Fuel Cell is coordinator for a consortium consisting of Topsoe Fuel Cell, Risoe National Laboratory, Amminex A/S and the Technical University of Denmark. The consortium has received DKK 30 million (EUR 4 million) over three years in funds from the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation contributing to a project which focuses on research in new cell and stack concepts with the aim of developing robust and competitive solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) with long durability and low production costs. At the same time, the project will accelerate the development of Amminex’ high-density hydrogen storage material. Integration of this into a solid oxide fuel cell system opens up for new applications of the SOFC technology.

“This project, which will run the next 3 years, will enable us to establish a platform for cell and stack production, which can serve the early demonstration market”, says Niels Christiansen, R&D Manager, Topsoe Fuel Cell. “The target is that in five years time the technology has proven its reliability and competitiveness. The development supported by Danish National Advanced Technology plays an important role in this”, he adds.
